The New Baby - 12 wks

I had another midwife appt yesterday and things are looking great - perfect little heartbeat, I haven't lost any more weight and my uterus is measuring exactly right for my dates. I had some blood taken & they sent some urine off to a lab. The results will be back in a couple days but things look good. Oh, and I was able to make my next appt for when my sister and one of my nephews will be in town. Fun.

We haven't decided whether we'll find out the gender this time. Andy and I will be thrilled either way. It'd be fun to have four boys, but a girl would be a new type of blessing. Gideon, however is not so neutral. He's vehemently rooting for a girl - big time. The midwives we go to don't do routine ultrasounds or routine vaginal exams (what? follow the science that shows they don't make any difference in the healthy outcome of the baby or mother?). They only perform either if medically indicated or if the mother really wants it. Part of me says it would be good for Gid to have time to adjust to the idea of another brother but a stronger part of me keeps saying he's going to have to adjust whether he finds out through ultrasound or at birth. And at birth I have the strong feeling he'll fall immediately in love with the baby whatever gender it is. He wants to be at the birth and I think we'll probably go with that. He's watched all the videos of his and his brother's births and while my yelling makes him "feel sad for a minute" he maintains he really wants to see the new baby be born. So as long as we can find an appropriate caretaker available to attend the birth with him, right now it looks like he'll be along for the ride.

Lynn, you guys are so great. We miss you bigtime. I listened to that sermon, and I wish I was there to get prayer at the end. Such a good application. Of course all of us in blogland are wanting you to tell us in 2 months what the gender is, we CANNOT wait. I think that's cool you want Gideon in there. I think he's a great little caretaker. He'd probably hold your water bottle and massager thingy at the same time ready to be called upon. Blessings to your health and to the bambino!!

I'm sorta leaning toward a girl like Gid, but I really don't care just so you and our little one are healthy. God's already showed me it's such a blessing to have a new baby it really doesn't matter whether it's a girl or a boy ~ either way he/she will bring us all great joy!

Good for you for letting Gideon be involved in all of this. I still remember the day I first set eyes on my baby brother. I was 4 1/2 and I think I can remember almost everything about the room he was in and his tiny little body. We always had a special bond too.

Hey Lynn,
It makes me feel so happy and excited to read about your new wee one. One thing is fo sho, if it the baby is a girl, she will be one cool little girl with you for a mom, (and very well protected by her big brothers). We miss you!

Congratulations on a wonderful visit to he midwife! I love the idea of you having 4 boys. As a mommy of 4 of the same sex (the other one, of course) let me just say it is soo much fun to see how many different personalities can arise from the same family. Though daddy is really hoping for a boy, the girls are wanting a fifth girl. They feel that it will mess up our record to have a boy, now. lol Though in reality, we will all fall madly in love with this baby regardless of it's sex the moment we set eyes on him/her as I'm sure you all will, too.
